Clamming,
Mussels and Crabs in Jenner
The Sonoma coast
is excellent for gathering mussels, clams and crabs. It should be
noted, however that the State of California requires individuals to
purchase a fishing license and imposes an annual quarantine on mussels
and clams from May 1 through October 31. It is also critical that
one checks the marine toxin reports, prior to any collecting, since
there are certain times of the year that shell fish can be poisonous
and potentially even deadly.
